Photojournalism MT Exams

Consider working on this starting tomorrow. This must be in by January 30 (Thursday). Work with your classmates in scouting for one (1) Photographer and one (1) Photojournalist and in conducting interviews. However, your outputs shall be credited individually.

Here’s your goal: Explain the difference between a photographer and a photojournalist based on your subjects’ stories. Consider checking out the following details from your contacts:
1.      Nature of work or projects?
2.      Outputs?
3.      Affiliations?
4.      Clients?
5.      Gear/Equipment?

Do these all matter? Analyze whether the above-mentioned draw the line between a photographer and a photojournalist. If not, you might want to check out something else from them. Research. Reach. Research.

Presentation: Individual Output- Short bond paper, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12, more than or equal to 1000 words

1.   Write a feature article to explain the difference between a photographer and a photojournalist. Your article must be able to present your “professionalism” as a Communication student (the selection of eligible subjects and gathering of factual data). Be creative. Include your subjects’ stories: humble beginnings, affiliations, breaks, unforgettable clients, etc.

2.   Post a photo/s of you and your subjects (during the actual interview or during the meet-and-greet), and write a caption. Take photos of the gear, portfolio, gallery, photo hub, etc.

Agenda-setting

1.       Select two broadsheets that cover politics. Observe only the front page. Compare the coverage of the same event, and note the similarities and differences, such as the amount of spaces devoted to the item, page placement, and language, including quotations, used in the story. What conclusions can you draw from these differences? Consider reviewing AGT principles, like gatekeepers, priming, framing, etc.

For the hard copy, attach the analysed paper.

Broadsheets/Tabloid assignment:

2.       On the same date, repeat the same exercise above. This time monitor a foreign news website’s homepage. What types of news are mostly emphasized and highlighted? Cultivation Theory (CT)

Choose your date and time. This should be a same-day monitoring for both media. Check your assigned TV news program and online news site.  Analyse how the local broadcast news and online media handle and create news stories involving women. Take note of all the headlines to categorize and classify the news on women according to Disaster, Crime, Metro, Feature, World, Showbiz/ Entertainment Sports and Political (local). Therefore all analyses shall be based on the same date. Aside from your observed data, I should also see supported answers citing CT.
On your blog, post the recorded news program and the print screen of the monitored homepage in the morning, at noon and in the evening.
